Michael J. Moniz Appointed to Advisory Board of the National Center for Biodefense Communications

Technology leader tapped to join in the fight for homeland security through the creation of a national information sharing network in support of homeland security.

Boulder, Colo. August 5, 2003 - Circadence Corporation today announced that its President and CEO, Michael J. Moniz, has been asked to join the advisory board of the National Center for Biodefense Communications (the "Center"). The Center's principal objective is to utilize Internet-based technologies for early detection of significant human and animal health events. Upon event detection, the Center will issue Internet-based notifications to appropriate policymakers, healthcare officials and first-responders.

Moniz said, "I am pleased to support such an important program and I look forward to helping the project team achieve their goals and objectives. By joining this team, I can use my experience to help build collaborative partnerships between federal research laboratories, universities and technology companies to support the Center. I have always been a strong advocate for technology improvement and information sharing among federal, state and local agencies and the Center takes this belief to a new level."

Initiated by Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, the Center will focus its efforts on securely connecting remote health and veterinary departments. Paramount to the Center's success is its dependence on commercially available Internet-based technologies. These technologies will enable the Center to quickly install its network and begin the surveillance, research and information sharing components of the project.

"Mike brings the Center a long history of public-private partnership building and significant experience within the homeland security industry. We look forward to drawing upon this knowledge as we set up an alliance of technology firms and government institutions to support the Center. We are confident that his experience will help drive the successful growth and development of the program," said Dr. Anthony Mawson, the Center's Director.
